Kentucky Core Academic StandardsPTAs can play a pivotal role in how the standards are put in place at the state and district levels. Although Kentucky has adopted the standards, we are still in the very early stages of the implementation process. Once the standards are implemented, a key part of the work will be to help teachers and parents talk about and understand how the standards can be used to improve their children's chance for success. "Through a generous grant from National PTA, the 15th District PTA will be able to share information with parents and community members about these standards." If you would like more information about the Kentucky Core Academic Standards, or if you would like to schedule a workshop, please contact Sharon Whitworth, KCAS Project Lead, at sharon.whitworth@jefferson.kyschools.us at 502.485.7450 or 502.485.3535.
Mission of the Kentucky Core Academic Standards The Kentucky Core Academic Standards provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help them. The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers.
